The alloyed engineering steel 1.6580 (30CrNiMo8) is characterized by high strength, toughness, and excellent through-hardening properties. These characteristics make it a versatile material suitable for a wide range of applications.

This grade is recommended wherever high demands are placed on toughness, hardenability, and strength. It is frequently used in mechanical engineering and for components in the automotive industry. It is also employed in fracking and pumping applications.

Typical applications for grade 1.6580 include supports for testing machines, pole plates for generators, steering levers for aircraft tow tractors, coils used in press construction, and suspension components for rolling mill machinery.

Heat-treated condition (quenched and tempered):
Tensile strength QT 800–950 N/mm² | 1000–1200 N/mm²

Advantages of saw cut

The processing with the saw is a mechanical processing of the material, which results in a significantly lower unintended deformation and increased hardness for the existing structure, such as the thermal cutting.

Thus, the machined workpiece has a homogeneous structure even at the edge, which does not change in the continuation of the material.

This circumstance allows immediate finishing of the workpiece with milling or drilling . So it is not necessary to anneal the material or make a similar operation beforehand.
