DPM450 (SPM20CV)
The material DPM450 is a powder metallurgically produced steel with a very high carbon and chromium content. Due to its higher carbide content, the DPM450 material combines extreme wear resistance and hardness with particularly good toughness.
Powder metallurgical steels (PM steels) are obtained in an alternative manufacturing process for casting blocks and, due to their good properties, are used particularly in large-scale production. The powder is strongly isostatically compressed during production, which leads to fewer air pockets and a homogeneous steel structure. Due to the highest possible degree of purity, PM steels are more resistant than conventional tool steels. Due to their high wear resistance and hardness, they require a much less frequent tool change and are therefore also more economical (service life!).
Application areas
The material DPM450 is particularly suitable for tools that are used in fine blanking and sintering production. Use in bending tool construction and punches for cold work, as well as for cutting knives (also in the food industry).

Flat, forged, annealed
The processing with the saw is a mechanical processing of the material, which results in a significantly lower unintended deformation and increased hardness for the existing structure, such as the thermal cutting.
Thus, the machined workpiece has a homogeneous structure even at the edge, which does not change in the continuation of the material.
This circumstance allows immediate finishing of the workpiece with milling or drilling. So it is not necessary to anneal the material or make a similar operation beforehand.
