1.7709 (21CrMoV5-7) is an alloyed, heat-resistant structural steel. It is used for the production of components for mechanical engineering, turbine manufacturing, heat exchangers, pressure vessels, and parts with high strength and resistance requirements at elevated temperatures, as well as components for thermal power plants (parts for higher ambient temperatures up to 550°C).

Characteristics

The steel 1.7709 (21CrMoV5-7) is well-suited for welding. Appropriate preheat treatment is recommended.

Properties and application:

High heat resistance: Material 1.7709 (21CrMoV5-7) offers high resistance to thermal fatigue and stresses at elevated temperatures due to its alloying elements, particularly the addition of molybdenum and vanadium.

Processing: 21CrMoV5-7 is easy to weld and machine, making it suitable for industrial manufacturing.

Typical applications:

High-stress components such as shafts, gears, turbine parts, piston rods, and machine parts exposed to high mechanical and thermal loads.
Steam boiler tubes, turbine shafts, and pressure vessels subjected to high temperatures and mechanical stresses.

Advantages of saw cut

The processing with the saw is a mechanical processing of the material, which results in a significantly lower unintended deformation and increased hardness for the existing structure, such as the thermal cutting.

Thus, the machined workpiece has a homogeneous structure even at the edge, which does not change in the continuation of the material.
This circumstance allows immediate finishing of the workpiece with milling or drilling . So it is not necessary to anneal the material or make a similar operation beforehand.
