Scopes

1.4307 is an austenitic chromium-nickel steel. Due to the low carbon content, the solidification tendency is reduced, which benefits the machinability. It has good corrosion resistance in natural environment. This stainless steel is resistant to intercrystalline corrosion and can be processed well.

The chemical composition and properties are comparable with the material 1.4301.

Application areas

The material 1.4307 is used in the following areas: automotive industry, construction industry, chemical industry, oil industry/ petrochemical industry, aerospace and mechanical engineering.

1.4307 is also known under the classification AISI 304L.

Forging: The material is heated to 1.150°C - 1.180°C. Between 1.180°C and 950°C, the forging process takes place. If no distortion is to be feared, the material is rapidly cooled after the forging process in air or in water.

Welding: 1.4307 is suitable for welding with or without welding consumables. After welding no heat treatment is required. Welding influences the corrosion resistance.

Corrosion resistance: The formation of chromium carbides is excluded because of the low carbon content. Resistance to intergranular corrosion is given. In the absence of salt and chlorine concentrations, good corrosion resistance is present in natural environmental media.

Cold forming: This material is suitable for cold massive forming.

Advantages of saw cut

The processing with the saw is a mechanical processing of the material, which results in a significantly lower unintended deformation and increased hardness for the existing structure, such as the thermal cutting.

Thus, the machined workpiece has a homogeneous structure even at the edge, which does not change in the continuation of the material. This circumstance allows immediate finishing of the workpiece with milling or drilling . So it is not necessary to anneal the material or make a similar operation beforehand.
